Hurricane Katrina relief

I have put together some new bags of paper scraps from my studio to benefit WWOZ, New Orleans' jazz and heritage radio station as they rebuild their station and community in the wake of the tragic disaster.

Pictured are the contents of one of the bags. The papers are perfect for scrapbooks, cards and gift tags (just to start).

I'm asking $11, with $10 going to WWOZ and the other dollar for shipping. Please help WWOZ rebuild their community and continue in their mission to preserve and share the rich culture and heritage of New Orleans.

special projects

Lately I've been working on more binding projects for the Center for Book Arts. This week and next find me assisting Barbara Henry in binding a chapbook for the winner of the Center's annual poetry chapbook competition. She has designed a beautiful binding for this year's chapbook. A reading will be held at the Center on Sept 30th, after which the chapbook will be available for sale.

I've also begun to pitch in with the binding of the Center's special 30th anniversary publication of Robert Bringhurst's New World Suite Number Three. Hedi Kyle designed the binding and its production is being overseen by Master Binder Mirah von Wicht. She dubbed me her 'sewing goddess' and I'm happy to help. Pre-ordering for the book is available via the Center's web site.
